Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Borys Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory, from October 6 to 11, 2025, the air in Kyiv showed exceedances of the average daily maximum allowable concentrations of the following pollutants:

- Sulfur dioxide — by 1.1–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandra Dovzhenka, Hetmana Pavla Polubotka, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska Streets, and Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh;
Carbon monoxide — at the maximum allowable concentration level on October 9 on Inzhenera Borodina Street;

- Nitrogen dioxide — by 3.6 times on October 6 at Bessarabska Square; by 3.0–3.3 times on October 6 and 10 on Inzhenera Borodina Street; by 3.1–3.2 times on October 10 at Halytska Square and Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard; by 1.8–2.9 times on Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandra Dovzhenka, Hetmana Pavla Polubotka, Kaunaska Streets, and Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh;

- Formaldehyde — by 1.1–2.3 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandra Dovzhenka, and Kaunaska Streets.

In total, 1,384 air samples were collected and analyzed at 14 stationary observatory posts from October 6 to 11, 2025.

Compared to the previous week, the content of sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and formaldehyde in the air increased.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in the coming days a slight increase in air temperature, a change in wind direction to the south, and a decrease in precipitation are expected, which will contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations from the stationary posts of the Borys Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory, from 29 September to 04 October 2025, the following exceedances of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded in Kyiv’s air:

- Sulphur dioxide – by 1.0–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – at the maximum permissible concentration level on 29 September and 01 October at Demiivska and Bessarabska Squares;

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 3.1–3.4 times on 04 October at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Inzhener Borodin and Semen Skliarenko Streets; by 1.8–2.9 times on Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska, and Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh Streets;

- Formaldehyde – by 1.0–2.5 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets.

In total, 1,572 samples of atmospheric air were collected and analyzed at 15 stationary observatory posts between 29 September and 04 October 2025.

Compared to the previous week, the content of suspended particles, sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and formaldehyde in the air decreased.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the weather in the coming days will be variable, with occasional rain and low air temperatures. Such weather conditions are not expected to significantly affect the level of air pollution in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory, from 22 to 27 September 2025 in Kyiv’s air were recorded exceedances of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations:

- Sulfur dioxide – by 1.0–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Sarbon monoxide – by 1.1 times on 22 September in the Hydropark area; by 1.0–1.1 times on 24 and 27 September at Bessarabska Square; by 1.0–1.1 times from 22 to 25 September at Demiivska Square;

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 5.3 times on 24 September at Halytska Square; by 4.1 times on 23 September at Bessarabska Square; by 3.0–3.9 times at Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets; by 1.9–2.9 times in the Hydropark area, on Akademika Strazheska and Hetman Pavlo Polubotok Streets;

- Formaldehyde – by 1.0–2.2 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets.

In total, at 14 stationary posts of the observatory, 1,500 samples of atmospheric air were collected and analyzed from 22 to 27 September 2025.

Compared to the previous week, the content of suspended particles in the air has slightly increased, while the level of formaldehyde has decreased.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the weather in the coming days will be variable: on Wednesday–Thursday, air temperatures will decrease with precipitation, while on Friday–Saturday, temperatures will begin to rise. Such weather conditions will not significantly affect the level of pollution in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory from September 15 to 20, 2025, the air in Kyiv showed exceedances of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations of:

- Sulfur dioxide – by 1.0–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – by 1.0–1.2 times on September 16 and 19 at Demiivska Square and Inzhener Borodin Street;

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 4.8 times on September 18 at Halytska Square; by 4.2 times on September 20 at Bessarabska Square; by 3.0–3.8 times at Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets; by 2.0–2.9 times in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska and Oleksandr Dovzhenko Streets;

- Formaldehyde – by 1.0–2.6 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets.

In total, at 14 stationary observatory posts from September 15 to 20, 2025, 1,500 air samples were collected and analyzed.

Compared to the previous week, the content of nitrogen dioxide in the air slightly decreased.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at stationary monitoring posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory, from September 8 to 13, 2025, exceedances of average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded in Kyiv’s air for:

-Sulfur dioxide – by 1.0–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;
Carbon monoxide – by 4.3 times on September 8 in the Hydropark area; by 1.1–1.2 times on September 10–11 at Demiivska Square and Obolonskyi Avenue;

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 3.0–4.1 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi Avenue, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, and on Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets; by 1.8–2.9 times at Obolonskyi Avenue, the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, and Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh Streets;

In total, 1,571 samples of atmospheric air were collected and analyzed at 15 stationary observatory posts between September 8 and 13, 2025.

Compared to the previous week, the levels of nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and suspended particles in the air have decreased.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, precipitation, wind, and lower air temperatures are expected in the coming days, which will help clean the atmosphere. Toward the weekend, an increase in air temperature without wind is forecast, which will promote the accumulation of pollutants in the lower atmospheric layer.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at stationary monitoring posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory from 01 to 06 September 2025, the following exceedances of average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded in Kyiv’s air:

- Sulfur dioxide – 1.0–1.4 times higher at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – 1.7 times higher on 06 September in the Hydropark area; 1.0–1.5 times higher at Demiivska and Bessarabska Squares, Dovzhenko and Inzhenera Borodina Streets;

- Nitrogen dioxide – 5.9 and 5.7 times higher on 06 and 03 September at Halytska Square; 5.5 times higher on 04 September at Semen Skliarenko Street; 2.0–4.7 times higher at Bessarabska Square, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska and Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh Streets;

- Formaldehyde – 3.0–3.1 times higher on 01 September at Bessarabska Square and Dovzhenko Street; 1.1–2.9 times higher at Halytska Square, Nauky, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska and Semen Skliarenko Streets.

In total, 1,571 air samples were collected and analyzed at 15 stationary observatory posts from 01 to 06 September 2025.

Compared to the previous week, nitrogen dioxide levels increased, while sulfur dioxide levels slightly decreased.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in the coming days the anticyclonic weather pattern will persist, air temperatures will decrease slightly, no precipitation is expected, which will contribute to a slight accumulation of pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

 

02 September 2025

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory, from 25 to 30 August 2025 in Kyiv’s air the following exceedances of average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded:

- Sulfur dioxide – by 1.0–1.5 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh, and Semen Sklyarenko Streets.

- Carbon monoxide – by 4.5 times on 30 August in the Hydropark area; by 1.0–1.4 times on 25 and 29–30 August on Inzhenera Borodina Street; by 1.2 times on 29 August at Bessarabska Square; by 1.0–1.2 times on 26–29 August at Demiivska Square; by 1.1 times on 27 August on Obolonskyi Avenue; and at the MPC level on 29 August on Oleksandr Dovzhenko Street.

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 5.7 and 5.8 times on 27 and 30 August at Halytska Square; by 4.7 times on 26 August on Semen Sklyarenko Street; by 3.0–4.2 times at Bessarabska Square, Beresteiskyi Avenue, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Inzhenera Borodina, and Kaunaska Streets; by 1.6–2.8 times on Obolonskyi Avenue, in the Hydropark area, and on Hetman Pavlo Polubotok and Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh Streets.

- Formaldehyde – by 3.1 times on 29 August at Halytska Square; by 1.0–2.9 times at Bessarabska Square, Nauky, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska, and Semen Sklyarenko Streets.
In total, at 15 stationary posts of the Observatory from 25 to 30 August 2025, 1,572 air samples were collected and analyzed.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary monitoring posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory, from 18 to 23 August 2025, exceedances of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded in Kyiv’s air:

- Sulfur dioxide – 1.0–1.4 times above the limit at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – 1.2 times above the limit on 21–22 August in the Hydropark area; at the limit value on 23 August at Bessarabska Square;

- Nitrogen dioxide – 5.1 times above the limit on 20 August at Halytska Square; 4.0–4.5 times above the limit from 20 to 22 August at Bessarabska Square; 3.0–3.9 times above the limit at Beresteiskyi Avenue, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets; 1.8–2.8 times above the limit at Obolonskyi Avenue and Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh Street;

Compared to the previous week, the concentrations of sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and formaldehyde in the air decreased slightly.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in the coming days a gradual rise in air temperature and a decrease in precipitation are expected, which will contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory from 11 to 16 August 2025, the following exceedances of average daily maximum permissible concentrations in Kyiv’s air were recorded:

- Sulfur dioxide – by 1.1–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – by 1.0–1.1 times on 13–15 August at Demiivska Square; by 1.0 times on 13 August at Oleksandr Dovzhenko Street; by 1.0 times on 14 August at Obolonskyi Avenue and in the Hydropark area;

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 5.9 times on 12 August at Semen Skliarenko Street; by 5.7 times on 16 August at Halytska Square; by 4.4 times on 13 August at Beresteiskyi Avenue; by 4.0–4.3 times at Bessarabska Square, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, Inzhenera Borodina and Kaunaska Streets; by 3.1–3.7 times at Obolonskyi Avenue, Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko and Hetman Pavlo Polubotok Streets; by 1.2–2.7 times at Nauky Avenue, in the Hydropark area, and at Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh Street;

In total, at 15 stationary posts of the observatory, 1,516 air samples were collected and analyzed from 11 to 16 August 2025.

Compared to the previous week, the content of suspended particles, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and formaldehyde in the air decreased somewhat.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in the coming days the weather will be variable: on Wednesday–Thursday the air temperature will rise, with no precipitation and light winds; on Friday–

Saturday the temperature will begin to decrease, with precipitation.

Such weather conditions will not significantly affect the level of air pollution.

According to observations from the stationary stations of the Central Geophysical Observatory, from August 4 to 9, 2025, the air in Kyiv showed exceedances of average daily maximum permissible concentrations of:

- Sulfur dioxide – by 1.1–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – by 1.2 times on August 5 at Demiivska Square; by 1.1 times on August 4 at Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard; by 1.0 times on August 5 and 8 at Bessarabska Square;

- Nitrogen dioxide – by 5.7 times on August 9 at Halytska Square; by 4.5 times on August 4 at Beresteiskyi Avenue; by 4.0–4.4 times at Bessarabska Square, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, Kaunaska and Semen Skliarenko Streets; by 3.0–3.7 times at Obolonskyi Avenue, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, and Inzhener Borodin Streets; by 2.2–2.9 times in the Hydropark area and on Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh Street;

- Formaldehyde – by 3.2–3.3 times on August 6 and 8 at Beresteiskyi Avenue; by 3.1–3.2 times on August 6 and 8 at Oleksandr Dovzhenko Street; by 3.0–3.1 times on August 6 and 8 at Bessarabska Square; by 1.2–2.9 times at Halytska Square, Obolonskyi Avenue, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Kaunaska, and Semen Skliarenko Streets.

In total, from August 4 to 9, 2025, 1,246 air samples were collected and analyzed at 13 stationary observatory posts.

Compared to the previous week, the content of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and formaldehyde in the air increased.

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in the coming days, the air temperature will remain high, without precipitation, but a light fresh wind is expected, which will contribute to a slight tendency for pollutants to accumulate in the atmosphere.

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Central Geophysical Observatory from July 28 to August 2, 2025, exceedances of average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded in the air of Kyiv for the following pollutants:

- Suspended particulate matter – by 1.2 times on July 28 on Akademika Strazheska Street;

- Sulfur dioxide – by 1.1 to 1.5 times on Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesi Ukrainky Boulevard, Hydropark area, Oleksandra Dovzhenka, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh, and Semena Skliarenka Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – by 1.0 to 1.9 times from July 30 to August 1 on Semena Skliarenka Street; by 1.2 to 1.5 times on August 1–2 on Inzhenera Borodina Street; by 1.0 times on July 31 on Demiivska Square and in the Hydropark area;

- Sulfur dioxide – exceeded by 1.1–1.4 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Nauky and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesi Ukrainky Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh, and Semen Skliarenko Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – exceeded by 1.0 times on July 21 and 24 at Demiivska Square, and on July 24 on Semen Skliarenko Street;

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a change in weather is expected in the next 2–3 days, with lower air temperatures, precipitation, and wind gusts, which will contribute to the cleansing of the ground-level atmosphere. Starting from the weekend, air temperature will rise, with no precipitation and no wind, which will favor the accumulation of pollutants in the atmosphere.

- Sulfur dioxide – exceeded by 1.1 to 1.5 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh, and Semena Skliarenka Streets;

- Carbon monoxide – exceeded by 1.3 to 2.0 times on May 8 in the area of Halytska Square and Kaunaska Street;

According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, an anticyclonic weather pattern was observed last week: light winds, no precipitation, rising daytime and falling nighttime temperatures, all of which contribute to increased concentrations of pollutants in the lower atmosphere. This weather pattern may persist until the end of this week.

- Sulfur dioxide – exceeded by 1.0–1.5 times at Halytska and Bessarabska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesi Ukrainky Boulevard, the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shliakh, and Semen Sklyarenka Streets;

According to observations from the stationary posts of the Borys Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory, from May 27 to June 1, 2024, exceedances of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations were recorded in the air of Kyiv for the following pollutants:

- Sulfur dioxide — exceeded by 1.1–1.6 times at Bessarabska and Halytska Squares, Beresteiskyi and Obolonskyi Avenues, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, the Hydropark area, and on Akademika Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotok, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska, Horikhuvatskyi Shlyakh, and Semen Sklyarenka Streets. No exceedances were observed at 37 Nauky Avenue (in the area of the observatory’s meteorological site).

A total of 1287 atmospheric air samples were collected and analyzed at 15 stationary posts of the observatory from March 18 to 23, 2024.

Compared to the previous week, the formaldehyde content in the air has slightly increased.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, last week was dominated by cyclonic weather, which contributed to the dispersion of most pollutants. However, this trend will change in the next 2-3 days, with warming, southerly winds and no precipitation expected, which will not contribute to the dispersion of impurities.

- nitrogen dioxide - by 3.0-4.6 times on Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Beresteysky avenue, Lesia Ukrainka boulevard, Akademika Strazheskoho, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska and Semena Skliarenka streets; by 1.0-2.9 times on Obolonskyi and Nauky avenues, in the area of Hydropark;

- formaldehyde - by 3.4 times on March 4 in the area of Semen Skliarenko Street; by 1.0-2.9 times on Halytska and Bessarabska Squares, Beresteysky, Obolonsky and Nauky Avenues, Lesia Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Kaunaska Streets.

A total of 1524 atmospheric air samples were collected and analyzed at 16 stationary posts of the Observatory from March 4 to 9, 2024.

Compared to the previous week, the content of nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide in the air increased.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, last week was dominated by anticyclonic weather, without precipitation, with low winds, which contributed to an increase in the concentration of pollutants in the surface layer of the atmosphere, but in the next 2-3 days it will change to cyclonic, which will lead to a decrease in concentrations.

Weekly information on air pollution in Kyiv

According to observations at the stationary posts of the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, from February 26 to March 2, 2024, the average daily maximum permissible concentrations were exceeded in the air of Kyiv:

- Sulfur dioxide - by 1.5-2.6 times on Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Beresteyskyi and Obolonskyi avenues, Lesia Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotko, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Semen Skliarenko streets, except for 37 Nauky Avenue (near the weather site of the observatory), where no exceedances were observed;

- nitrogen dioxide - by 1.1-3.9 times on Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Beresteyskyi, Obolonskyi and Nauky avenues, Lesi Ukrainky boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotko, Inzhenera Borodina, Kaunaska and Semena Skliarenka streets;

- formaldehyde - by 1.0-2.4 times on Halytska and Bessarabska squares, Beresteyskyi, Obolonskyi and Nauky avenues, Lesi Ukrainky boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademika Strazheskoho, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Kaunaska and Skliarenko streets.

Compared to the previous week, the content of nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide in the air increased.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the predominantly cyclonic weather pattern with no precipitation, rising air temperature and weak winds with a southerly component contributed to the increase in pollutant concentrations, but this weather pattern will change in the next 2-3 days.
